Review of The Lion's Daughter and their new 2021 album Skin Show via Season Of Mist. The Lion's Daughter is a St. Louis, Missouri group that exploded onto the scene with the atmosphere-driven blackened sludge of 2016's Existence Is Horror; an album that fit well alongside other recent releases at the time from Emptiness and Lord Mantis. Not content to keep their sound in one place, they followed this up with 2018's Future Cult; which found them leaning more heavily into synth and electronic elements for a sound that could be best described as sludge meets John Carpenter and Italian Giallo horror. Enter the announcement of Skin Show and its early singles, and I was very intrigued to hear how they've evolved in the past few years.
