The Pitch: Reissue of fantastic '97 demo recording from kvlt Finnish black/symphonic black metal band Thyrane.

What I Like: This is another fine example of what a "tr00" black metal band should sound like.  The production is gritty, but still highlights the band's strengths.  The vocals are the definition of grim, and the riffs are fantastic.  I can hear worship for several classic bands around during this time including Emperor and Immortal, but something about the overall presentation reminds me most of Enslaved's Vikingligr Veldi or Frost albums.  It comes through in the proggier songwriting, lightning tremolo lines and minimalist synths.

What I Don't Like: Nothing.  I love this demo.

The Verdict: Black Harmony is such an exemplary work in 2nd wave black metal that it makes me wonder why I have never heard their name before.  I'm sure it could be argued that they don't really bring anything new to the table and play second-fiddle to the initial Norwegian explosion a few years prior, but it still stands out from much of the "myriads" as Fenriz describes BM post-1992.
