The Pitch: Interesting mix of black metal and post metal (that I wouldn't call post-black) from Poland's Mord'A'Stigmata

What I Like: Expansive, lush, introspective.  Words a use a lot, but by they help to define this record.  It opens with a guitar melody that I hear used frequently in the more atmospheric black metal albums these days, but I just love the despair it evokes.  But forget about the guitars; for me it's the drumming that kept me engaged and first helped it land a spot in my queue.  The pounding is produced perfectly and it carries so much weight.  I also enjoy the very The Satanist-sounding vocals and the piano on the final track.

What I Don't Like: I can't say this album was a consistent slam-dunk across the board.  There are points that meander a bit too much.  Once again, more variatin please.

The Verdict: An introspective journey that carries the darkness and aggression of black metal, but with the more open and brooding qualities of post-metal.

Flight's Fav's: Hope, In Less Than No Time
