LLNN describe themselves as "Post apocalyptic hardcore from Copenhagen."  This Danish combo puts out an aggressive mix of sludge and hardcore with a punchy conciseness I haven't heard since Will Haven's Carpe Diem.  Over their time together so far, they have performed with Église, Czar, Pyramido, Grim Van Doom, Hexis, Cloud Rat, Year Of No Light, Eyehategodand, Cult Of Luna, Pelican, and Russian Circles. Their latest album, Loss, is a journey you must take.

Honestly, there's nothing I can really say that the video above doesn't do well enough on its own.  LLNN sport the dark atmosphere of their peers Grieved, the somewhat mathy and crushing elements of Botch, and a level of intensity that is all their own.  I've said it enough times already, but if you're looking for the most depraved and violent corners of hardcore, Denmark seems to be the right destination these days.

The sound itself can be described pretty succinctly: giant thunderclaps of jarring distortion, abrasive post-hardcore screams, and earth shattering blasts of snare, bass, and cymbals.  But while these elements can be summed up in a single sentence, describing what I enjoy about the result is not so simple.  There's just something in the perfect union of bleakness and heaviness that come together to hit like a bat to the teeth.  It's 30 minutes of undulating anguish.

From the lonely-looking cover to the name of album itself, Loss is the perfect soundtrack to an angsty day.  When you just need to blow off some steam and put up your middle finger no one in particular, pop in LLNN's debut.  In addition to the digital version below, CD copies are quite cheap as well.
