Pussy Jamz represents the comeback of Grind Of The Dead after a ten year hiatus. The album was written entirely by King Grindfuck, 40 songs in total, making this by far the longest grindcore album I have ever listened to. The album features more than a dozen guest vocalists and musicians from the local New England metal scene.   Says the band, "If you're looking for something angry, something offensive, something ridiculous, something that will make you want to eat glass and spit it in the face of your enemy, this is the album for you."  Touche.

I'm not entirely sure if this album is satirical, serious, or just a spontaneous release of id impulses.  Whatever the case may be, this is not for the faint of heart.  With titles like "From One Butthole to Another," "Fingerpainting with Feces," and "Burn the Bible, Piss Out the Flame," everything is carefully crafted to shock and disgust the average listener.  The level of misogyny  is quite alarming to say the least, with further song titles and lyrics that I hope my mother never sees.  But women aren't the only targets here...no one is safe from religion and politics to celebrities and hate groups.  PC principal's head would explode listening to these tracks.

The music itself?  It's definitely grindcore.  Pummeling blastbeats and D-beat, vile vocal delivery, and chugging discordant guitar.  Some riffs are more punk, others more Slayer ("Call me Bae...").  With 40 songs to choose from, there better be some level of variety, and Grind of the Dead delivers on this point.  It's easy for songs in this genre to run together, but the varied playing styles, humorous sample choices, and alternating of song lengths provide quite a bit of incentive to sit through this extended pummeling.  Songs run anywhere between a few seconds and 11 minutes.  And as if to prove that the band is not all fart jokes and breakneck speed, a few of these tracks (namely "Poor Koro" and "Remember, The Universe....") actually feature a strong melodic side.  Just don't expect anything remotely marketable.

All said and done, Pussy Jamz is a surprisingly accomplished peice of music (I use that word despite what the intro to "Grindcore Doesn't Suck..." tells us) that despite all attempts to put me off featured more than enough accomplished musicianship and solid production to ensure I will come back for more.  For the sake of the world, I pray that the lyrics are just shock value, but I can't disagree that Kanye West needs to be dealt with at some point.  And just as a counterpoint to any argument on misogyny, there are a few female musicians featured on the album and that is far from the entire focus here.  In any case, you can stream the entire gauntlet of violence below.  Makes a great Valentine's Day gift!
