The Pitch:  Chicago-based death tinged thrash metal band Crusadist tear it up on this unholy new quest.

What I Like: It's that rare moment that only comes 2 or 3 times a year: Flight recommends a thrash metal band. Despite not being the biggest fan of the genre, every now and then a band strikes just the right chord. Crusadist are just the latest to do just that...and it  doesn't hurt that they're from my home city. With all of the top notch riffing I love and none of the corny (imho) clean vocals, The Unholy Grail is a righteous good time. And to be honest, with the harsh vocals and overall heavy-hitting apprach, Crusadist can go toe to to with most death metal bands.

Critiques: Your songs are tooooooo long. If you ask me, most of the best thrash metal anthems are under 3 or so minutes for a reason. Constantly pushing for 5 or even 6 minutes in this style only leads to monotony.

The Verdict: While the songwriting could be more concise, The Unholy Grail is one of the best thrash metal albums I've heard in 2019. If they can tighten things up, I'll be interested to see where things go in the future.
