The Pitch: Stoner doom and psychodelic rock group Cloud Catcher catches some hazy purple clouds on their latest album through Totem Cat Records.  FFO: Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix

What I Like: This album very much induces the same feeling I got from my first exposure to Sabbath and Hendrix.  The grooving bass and rocking drums are so alive in their performance.  It may as well be being played in the room next door.  And as I slowly nod to the beat, the acid-trail inducing lead guitars have my pupils dialating and body sinking ever deeper into a blacklit beanbag chair.  I have the sudden urge to go out and buy a lava lamp.  This is the closest you can get to living the 70's if you never got the chance firsthand.

What I Don't Like: For all of its rocking glory and proficient musicianship, I don't find the compositions to be particularly profound.  Familiar riffs abound and the vocals can be a little hit and miss.  These guys have the tone and atmosphere down, but now they need to wow me with some unique moments to really draw my attention.

The Verdict:  Ya'll understand that I don't listen to a lot of groups in this style, so know that this was impressive enough to catch my attention to begin with.  All you stoner doomers and rockers out there may enjoy it even more than I did, but either way you should appreciate the performances and may find yourself having trouble getting back up off the floor.  Trails of Kozmik Dust releases 3/13, but you can hear it early HERE.

Flight's Fav's: Astral Warlord, Visions, Super Acid Magick
