The Pitch: Spain-based hardcore/crossover/powerviolence band The Conspiracy have a simple mission statement: "Violent music for violent minds."
What I Like: These days I have to toss out the disclaimer that I don't support actual violence, but I DO love me some aggressive music. Sometimes it's just fun to unleash your inner caveman to some brutal, destructive tunes. The Conspiracy feed that need on Spanish Inquisition with 4 tracks built for slanted foreheads and prominant brows. There's not much else to say about these guys other than the usual adjectives: "heavy," "loud," "confrontational," etc. Riffs are simple, but leave scars. The bass, drums, and vocals will likewise leave craters in your skull. The audio samples are a nice touch, especially the obligatory Monty Python.
Critiques: Grrr, roarg, argh...sorry I forgot how to speak for a moment there. What were we talking about?
The Verdict: Not recommended for operating heavy machinery. The Conspiracy are a group I imagine I'll hear more from in the future. With their dedication to destruction, they would be right at home on tour with anyone from Nails to Left Behind. Get the EP for just 2 Euro.
