The Pitch: Tridroid Records issues the debut release from German black metal project Uprising.  "There is no bio information and none will be given if requested. The band solely wants to be known for their music and nothing else." FFO Immortal, Gorgoroth, Inquisition.

What I Like: "Uprise" is a magnificent opener.  It sets the tone with the perfect mixture of harsh black metal aesthetic with melodic overtones.  This project is very capable in creating songs that pull at several emotional strings simultaneously.  This is devil music with heart.  Catchy hooks that definitely have that Inquisition vibe, great vocals.

What I Don't Like: The rest of this album struggles to live up to that song.  It's still a very solid album with ominous riffs, but after hearing what the band is capable of, I am a little dissapointed that it doesn't carry through the rest of the album at the same quality.

The Verdict: Uprising caught my attention very quickly and shows more than a few glimmers of a black metal project on the brink of greatness.  I expect more from them in the future given the possibilities.  Time for a true uprising.
