The Pitch: Chicago noise rock and post-hardcore band War Brides releases new album.  FFO Pissed Jeans, Daughters, Jesus Lizard

What I Like: More callbacks to that 90's era sound I love so much.  It's noisey, gritty post-hardcore that is infinitely more Fugazi than Underoath.  As much as I love both of those styles, I feel like I have more respect for this less-polished and more purely artistic aesthetic.  I definitely hear allusions in the jangly guitars to everything from Daughters and These Arms Are Snakes to Converge's slower moments.

What I Don't Like: Taken as a whole, it's not an album that can rival some of my favorites like Tail Swallower and Dove.  Some of the songwriting and overall engagement gets lost amidst the unbridled creativity.

The Verdict: A very interesting and no BS release from a talented group of musicians.  While I think it could use a little more finesse to make each song truly gripping, there is a certain genuineness that continues to draw me in.

Flight's Fav's: Clean, Halitosis, Ode to an Old Man
