Goram is a little band that comes to us from Bristol, UK.  Jumping into the fray with other groups like Seer, The Bedal Interlude, and Grizzlyman; they have a southern-tinged bit of blues groove to their sludgy, stoner sound.  They have just recently released a 5 song album titled Ashes, and it's pretty solid.  Grab a trip-sitter and some bottled water...this band is about to harsh your vibe.

Imagine that we still lived in a world where groups like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix were still the most "metal" groups out there.  Bluesy riffs and LSD for days.  Then one day someone just decided to scream a little more.  That is more or less how I hear the music of Ashes.  There is still a firm psychodelic quality to the music, but the harsh vocals tip the experience over into a bad trip.  Instead of just colors and fractals, we're also seeing some Heavy Metal cartoon monsters coming to eat our flesh.  I'm freakin' out, man.

Of the 5 tracks here, my personal favorites are "ˈkarɪən" and "ˈæʃɪz."  The EP is pretty consistent sonically, but something about these two songs got me grooving just a little bit more.  As if attending some cross between Bonaroo, Ozzfest, and Woodstock; I sumultaneously feel the need to sway in loose clothing like some hippy, but also put on some studded leather.  You've gotta love some of these basslines too.  They seem to reverberate through your very soul.

Do you enjoy bands like Clutch and Motorhead?  Do you like the sounds of both classic rock and extreme suldge metal?  Are you tired of answering my stupid questions?  Well then, stop reading this and hit play below.  Goram has all the makings of an acid trip that will leave you huddled in the corner in a cold sweat.  I'd like to see them in the future play around a bit more with new ideas and differentiate their tracks further, but for a band just building momentum I am pleased with the results.  Check them out.
