The Pitch: Australian blackened death metal brimming with atmosphere from Golgothan Remains, supported by Impure Sounds. FFO: Adversarial, Immolation, Incantation
What I Like: With Golgothan Remains, the vocals may be pure death metal, but these guitars (and the title for that matter) are straight out of an Inquisition record. I really love this style of riffing; it has an otherworldly, interdimensional feel to it. Perverse Offerings To The Void is evil from beyond the stars, existing outside of space and time. The wailing, coiling hooks and reckless blastbeats serve to flagellate the listener into complete supplication while the echoing snarls impose a deeper torment of the mind. And despite how berating they can be in their onslaught, Golgothan Remains also have an ear for composition and dynamics. Tracks flow seamlesly in and out of chaos, retiring into ominous interludes and further amplifying tension before going full Satanic supernova once more.
Critiques: I don't really have anything negative to say about this album. This is another solid band already at the top of its game. If they ARE interested in moving into the 9-10 territory, it'll take a little more originality. Personally, I'm fine either way.
The Verdict: Perverse Offerings To The Void is an explosive death metal release filled with concise songwriting and dynamic range. The riffs worm their way into the darkest recesses of the mind and command your attention from beginning to end. Definitely add Golgothan Remains to your queue. You will not regret it.
