I'm going to level with you: I really struggled with this one. To be honest, I'm still not even sure if I enjoy it. That being said, something about it just tells me it belongs here on the site. Krallice mixes some murky, bassy production with The Number 12 Looks Like You mathcore riffs and distant, post-hardcore, avant garde shouting. Ygg huur is very technical...and very weird.

I hate to boil it down, but a word repeatedly comes to mind: hipster. Even so, this is more respectably so than than most west coast USBM I run into. Krallice can back their challenging ways with some really solid musicianship. I Like the faster parts in "Wastes of the Ocean." These portions are more akin to my usual full-balls Dillinger Escape Plan tastes. It's the more meandering areas in between that make me feel a bit lethargic. Even so, the ability to evoke that feeling so readily is still a skill.

In the end, I'll leave it up to you. This may have come off as a somewhat negative review, but I really am actually impressed with these guys and will continue to revisit these and future works. I'll leave it up to you to make your own decisions.
