Formula for Anarchy is the latest release (of 5) for thrash metal band, Nuclear. It's also their first with the excellent support of Candlelight Records. These old-school minded Chileans, who have been hard at work since 2003, had this to say about the album: "it is by far the most uncompromising and violent material we have ever written - we are pretty sure both old and new school thrashers will dig it."

As some bands who were legends back in the day get older, they often lose touch with the original energy and conviction behind their sound. It is in this case that I welcome bands like Nuclear with open arms. Despite sharing some overtly strong similarities with Slayer with a dash of Sepultura; this group bring a level of ferocity that I find missing from the forerunner's latest releases. And so, despite not being awarded many points for originality, Nuclear make up for it in blunt force.

First and foremost in this assault are the almighty riffs. "Corporate Corruption" is a great example with fast and furious hooks akin to early Lamb of God. But the overall impression is very in line with what you might expect from a young Kerry King and Tom Araya. Solos are chaotic shred-fests matched by equally frenetic vocals. It's an old-school approach with a slightly more modern production.

You can't help but bang your head to tracks like "Confront," or my personal favorite, "Self Righteous Hypocrites." Throughout the duration you can expect nothing less than stellar hooks, ripping solos, and infectious beats. And the simple, yet catchy lyrical approach is certain to lead to some excellent audience participation during live performances. I'm already fist pumping and singing along from my driver's seat.

There's not much left to say on this one, but not for lack of urgency to check it out. If you needed something energetic and fun to go with your morning coffee, look no further. Like all other Candlelight digital releases, it's $7.50 to purchase. Check out our stream below.
