The Pitch: German band reissues their 2016 album with Sliptrick Records.  Depending on who you ask, it's either melodic death metal or metalcore.  Probably somewhere in between.

What I Like: Plenty of glorious riffage to rival early All That Remains and the like.  The Gothenburgy harmonies also recall Darkest Hour.  Vocals have some variation between hardcore barking, deathcore shrieks, and death metal growls.  The music is fast and to the point.  Serious props to this guitar player.

What I Don't Like:  This is another one of those releases where it simply feels like something is missing.  Musically speaking, I should be having a total blast, but the connection just isn't always there.  Is it the production?  The presence?  A need for more originality?  I'm not sure, but it needs to be stepped up in the future to make waves.

The Verdict: Ruins of Oblivion is an album with much promise for the metalcore scene, but lacks a certain je ne sais quoi to fully seal the deal.  You will dig the guitarwork and some of these screams, but I need more from these guys next time around.  Bet you're fantastic live.
