The Pitch: "East Coast crossover titans Iron Reagan and rising Sonoran death metallers Gatecreeper unite for a split recording of cranium crushing proportions....mixed by Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios...via Relapse Records."

What I Like: Iron Reagan is a killer band; one of the few doing the crossover legacy right these days. SImilarly, Gatecreeper is a solid choice for a modern take on OSDM. Putting these groups together, despite their different sounds, makes sense in from a nostalgia standpoint. But if one of these bands comes out on top, it has to be Iron Reagan. With their usual rebelious, punk attitude and thrashing riffs, tracks like "Warning" and "Burn for This" are energetic and sure to get your foot tapping.

Critiques: Still, I gotta say...I'm a bit dissapointed. While the Iron Reagan tracks are decent, they feel like B-sides leftover from the much stronger content of Crossover Ministry. Furthermore, the Gatecreeper tracks are relatively dull. These are both bands that I have enjoyed in the past, but in the end I can't give them more than a passing grade.

The Verdict: This album should have been a slam dunk: two killer bands from death and crossover coming together with one of my favorite producers to tear s#!t up. While the results are far from bad, they're just not up to par for the genre or even the bands themselves. If you enjoy Gatecreeper or Iron Reagan, this is still worth checking. But if you're coming in fresh, there are much better starting points in their discography.
