The Pitch: Greek black metal band Serpent Noir deliver their third album via WTC Productions.
What I Like: I dig the diversity of pacing and atmosphere on this album. While always sticking to a consistent foundation of black metal, we traverse through various modes in the form of crust, doom, and blackened death metal. There are some particularly rollicking parts scattered throughout "Asmodeus: The Sword Of Golachab," including a very Tom G Warrior "Ungh!!"
Critiques: As solid a listening experience this is, it's also pretty forgettable after the fact. I need a little more staying power, and that's gonna require more individuality.
The Verdict: Death Clan OD is an enjoyable and varied slice of black metal, though lacking some in terms of originality.
