Confucius once said, "there's djent, and then there's djent." Look it up, I swear. Truer words could not be spoken. There are hundreds of amateurs who simply aspire to get the lowest of the low end without really learning how to play their instruments. But, Kadinja is so far outside of that category that they can't even see it via telescope from the lofty stratosphere where they live. No, this is crunchy, math metal songwriting at its finest.

Clanky bass notes here act only to accompany an open world of melody and catchy hooks. Just listen to that lush, proggy guitar riffage on "Reflections." Combine After the Burial with early Periphery and you get the basic idea. Vocals death-growl into the deepest chasms and sing their way to great heights on par with The Mars Volta. But even without the gorgeous clean backups, instrumentally the wicked drumming and unstoppable solos do just fine as with "Revelations."

Cap this sexy little EP off with some great electronics a la Born of Osiris and you've got one rock solid release. It's another example of how to enter the game with common ideas and simply outdo all the other djentabes (yeah, I did it). The squeals, grooves, and of course, the low end all stand on the shoulders of giants to proclaim that Kadinja is here to stay. Beg them for a full length with me, but in the meantime you can nab these 4 songs for 4 Euro on bandcamp.
