The Pitch: German black/blackened death metallers Ctulu deliver their fourth album with a surprising amount of melodic fury.

What I Like: "Serce krwawe" sucks you in in a big way.  Even the brief clip in the teaser was enough to get me interested.  The rest of the album doesn't dissapoint, and the length at 35 minutes feels just right.  This is still fairly standard black metal, but the melodic injections are masterful.  Very infectious.  I'm also feeling some throwback thrash influence on tracks like "Treibjagd."

What I Don't Like: There's not anything I would say I don't like.  It's not perfect by any means, but I like what they're selling.

The Verdict: Insidious and also beautiful black metal that is highly engaging albeit nothing too original.  Great for fans of things that have some regional flair like Cult of Fire, Sulphur Aeon, and Melechesh.  Also, it's pretty fast.  Full stream tomorrow.

Flight's Fav's: "Serce krwawe," "Treibjagd," "Von Mondeswächtern und Menschverächtern"
