The Pitch: Vancouver's Terrifier reminds us that classic thrash metal is still alive and well if you just know where to look.
What I Like: This album brings me back to a time where galloping triplets were a standard. The guitars are complete insanity that never stop, and the vocals run the gamut from Ride The Lightning-era Metallica to Megadeath to Iron Maiden. I know everyone is drooling over Vektor's latest release, but for this is my favorite standard thrash I heard ending last year. They may not have the innovation of their progressive peers, but when I listen to this genre I mainly just want my face melted off.
What I Don't Like: There are some filler-sounding moments here and there, but for the most part this is right up there with Exodus.
The Verdict: While it may lack the nuance of Vektor, Weapons of Thrash Destruction is an impressive thrash album that perfectly captures the spirit of the late 80's and early 90's.
