The Pitch: Italy's Logic of Denial back with the release of Aftermath.  This latest effort is a concept album which covers the various stages of the grieving process, which apparently consists primarily of slams, brees, and pinched harmonics.  FFO: Malignancy, Disentomb, Suffocation, Aborted

What I Like:  This is no-bullshit, brutal as fuck, death metal in the vein of Suffocation and Malignancy. It is packed with slamming groove sections, as well as blistering blastbeat driven technical parts.  The vocals are very reminiscent of Malignancy with a few wees and brees thrown in to boot.  The instrumentation is tight and sounds well-rehearsed.  The entire record is consistently brutal and pretty fun to listen to.

Critiques:  The overabundance of of 808 kicks is unnecessary.  The songs can also get a little monotonous at times.  While there is definitely something to be said about sticking to one's guns stylistically, the songs do at times seem to lack dynamics and variation.

The Verdict:  While this band doesn't do much in terms of innovation, it cannot be denied that this is an awesome death metal record.  Logic of Denial knows how to deliver, and I am surprised I had not heard of this band previously.  Order Aftermath in the link below.
