Γνόφος (Gnophos) is an Eastern Orthodox Christian themed black metal project from Athens, Greece who just released their debut album Κατάνυξη (Katanixi). In stark opposition to most bands in this highly blasphemous genre, all lyrics are taken from the Bible, the writings of the Church Fathers and other old Christian texts. It is also written and performed in Biblical Greek. I'll tell you, I never would have guessed. The final result sounds every bit as dark and vicious as any other black metal. But hey, I say the more perspectives the merrier.
