STREAM: Black metal from MASCHARAT

March 16, 2018

"The word Mascharat derives from the arabic language, and means "joke, prank, trick" and "immoral and chaotic situation". Mascharat traces also the origin of the italian term "maschera" (engl. mask). Conceptually, we are inspired by the masks and traditions of carnival.

Before this album we released a self-produced demo of 4 tracks, of which the current full-length represents the continuation and conclusion. The album is structured as a symbolic tale, representing a path of initiation, divided in various phases and led by the masks. The path begins with the overturning of moral and social values and the destruction of one’s own identity, in order to embrace then a new truth.

Our lyrics are mainly written in Italian, except Médecine de peste, which is in french. All the original lyrics are accompanied by english translations in the booklet. We mostly take concepts and elements from litterature, religion and philosophy, but our main goal is always to create an authentic narration, in line with our aesthetic and artistic principles."
