Mini-Review and Stream: Ondt Blod

Jan. 19, 2016

Finnmark, the debut full-length album from Norwegian hardcore five-piece group, Ondt Blod, is officially out today via Loyal Blood Records and is currently streaming in its entirety.  Produced by Yngve Andersen (Blood Command, Girl Army), mixed by Ariel Sivertsen, and mastered by Brad Boatright of Audiosiege (Bane, Modern Life is War, Defeater, Code Orange), “Finnmark” features various guests appearances from elements of Norwegian bands like Kollwitz, Die a Legend, Jabba, Biru Baby and Jadudah.

Personally, I would file Ondt Blod more in the post-hardcore pile with groups like Underoath and Architects.  But also like those bands, don't take that label to mean that these guys can't get a bit aggressive.  The screams here can be at times as heavy as Great American Ghosts; they just happen to be offset by some catchy Norwegian singing.  The drums and guitar follow suit with some toe-tapping d-beats and punky chord progressions.  It's a fun record, I just wish I knew the language so I could get in on some of those sing-along choruses.   Check out the stream via soundcloud below.
