Mini-Review and Stream: GhostBlood

Feb. 9, 2016

Ghost Blood is a death/grind/something band from Seattle, WA.  Their album, Blood from Beyond the Grave came out September of 2015, and it is a truly vile experience.  Basically blend the speed and crustiness of grind with death squeels and blackened tremolos.  There's even a decent amount of heavy metal in there, especially on tracks like "Dungeon Ripper."  The sound is pretty impressive in the amount of comparisons my brain is processing at any given minute: Toxic Narcotic, Motorhead, Pig Destroyer, Iron Maiden...the list goes on.

I was initially going to write these guys off as a simple gore/death knockoff based on the cover and the first few seconds I listened to, but man would that have been stupid.  The drums are absolutely killer in their mix of raw D-beat and double bass, the bass guitar is a rumbly stoner delight, and the leads are actually quite impressive.  If you need further evidence, "Cleaver Fever" is another great place to start.  I can only imagine what type of live show these energetic dudes put on.  Stream the full album below and throw your support on some truly talented underdogs.
