Akatechism is a black, death, and doom band from Germany. This EP, Dripping Flames caught my ear pretty quickly with its solid take on purposefully raw production, absolutely eerie synth work, and overall dark and haunting sound. The blackened death metal vocals are reminiscent of another German metal band, Sulphur Aeon. But while their peers keep to the loudness and style of Behemoth, Akatechism prefer black cloaks and abandoned monasteries. There is really no other way to describe this album than creepy. Riffs are unsettling, and the use of piano is goosebump-inducing perfection. The pace is slow and plodding; like some abomination risen from the swamp and now shadowing your footsteps through the forest. Dripping Flames was released mid-December of 2015, and can now be streamed and purchased below. Give in to the nightmare.
