STREAM: Solo Project from The Mass Drummer WRACK

June 15, 2018

WRACK is the solo project and sole vision of multi-instrumentalist Tyler Cox, drummer of San Francisco Bay Area jazz-metal quartet THE MASS. “Hollow Sun” is the second WRACK release, following up 2009’s debut ep Graveyard. Released almost nine years after its predecessor, Hollow Sun represents a musical shift from Graveyard. While the core elements of the project remain intact, the sludge/post-metal elements have been discarded in favor of a meaner, more angular focus. Extended metallic riff dirges ride atop a pummeling foundation of drums and bass while layered guitars coalesce into dense crescendos. Cox’s weary rasp leads the charge, bellowing a menacing, paranoid sermon. “Hollow Sun” represents a new expansive, abstract, and harrowing vision of WRACK.
