The Pitch: The LA-based trio Animals As Leaders, arguably one of the most successful instrumental acts around, kick things up another notch with The Madness of Many.

What I Like: I've never really gotten into these guys before, but with this album they make it difficult not to.  These are super engaging jams; each incorporating different tricks, sounds, and styles.  They bring the jazz, they bring the funk, they bring the prog.  Certainly one of the best played and written albums of the year.  Dat bass!!

What I Don't Like: Sometimes I still wonder what this might sound like with vocals, but for all I know it could just as easily ruin everything that has been so carefully crafted here.

The Verdict: Animals As Leaders not only still have it, they have exceeded all expectations and written what is likely their best album to date.  Press play, bob head, air guitar like a villain.  Hear it all November 11th.
