The Pitch: Twisted, nightmarish black metal from Sweden's Katakomb via Iron Bonehead.  "Two songs In honor of the god of war..."

What I Like: Weird, deranged stuff.  The aggressive black metal riffs sound like a freezing wind howling through a swinging doorway.  As the gusts of shrieking guitars threaten to knock it loose from its hinges, one can just make out the faint, whispered croak of a demon.  Connections could certainly be drawn to other afficionados of stangled melodies and berating drums such as Abyssal and Deathspell Omega.  But things only get weirder.  The latter haf of the second track is made up of what sounds like an old Soviet radio broadcast accompanied by the buzzing of flies.  Despite being the most relaxed part of this release, it somehow strikes me as the most disconcerting.

What I Don't Like: It's short, and I would have liked a fuller context of the music.  One more song would have been nice.

The Verdict: You might need the nightlight after this one.  Get it tomorrow.
