The Pitch: The debut EP from Canada's Goreworm via CDN Records. "Think massive worms - the size of skyscrapers - that worm their way underneath cities, emerging to inflict heaps of gore upon humanity. No one is spared from the worm's ravenous appetite for human flesh." FFO: Abnormailty, Cytotoxin, Gutslit

What I Like: CDN aren't wrong in framing this as an apocalyptic event. If nothing else, The Path To Oblivion is destructively heavy. These 19 minutes cranked at full volume are certainly enough to raze most buildings to the ground. And fortunately for Goreworm, they accomplish this through an impressive array of technical showmanship that shows lots of promise for the future. The vocals are brutal and the instrumentation should inspire many a guitar and drum playthrough video.

Critiques: At the end of the day, this is still pretty meat and potatoes stuff. If you're already deep into the tech death genre, this isn't going to be the album that blows you away.

The Verdict: Goreworm are a solid band with killer musicianship and a crushing sound. The Path To Oblivion isn't necessarily an EP that's going to make major waves, but it does more than enough to prove that this band is worthy of your attention. Check back HERE Friday for a full stream.
