The Pitch: Greek occult black and death metal FFO Taake, early Enslaved. True Black Dawn

What I Like: When at its best, Acrimonious is spiraling, serpentlike riffs, rumbling drums, and grim vocals.  In my opinion, they work best at their fastest, incorporating some slimy hooks and ominous basslines amidst the raw, distorted soundscapes.  You gotta love that explosive transition to "Thaumitan Crown."

What I Don't Like: At over an hour, this album gets repetetive.  There are some changes in speed, but they aren't very well paced out in my opinion.  The whole affair just needs more variation and more concise songwriting.

The Verdict: While there are definitely some dull stretches on Eleven Dragons, there are enough strong moments to warrant checking it out and watching for these guys again in the future.
