The Pitch: "Raw straight-forward extreme stoner/sludge with strong and epic riffages" from Finland, now on Suicide Records.  FFO Bearstorm, Ghastly Sound, Junior Bruce, The Bendal Interlude

What I Like: More riffs that seem to ooze through the ether.  The title seems fitting, 1) due to the inclusion of the word "weed" and how that particular substance often goes hand-in-hand with this style and 2) because I can picture deep water plant life swaying and grooving to the current.  Complimenting these doomy grooves are some extreme vocals that tear straight through the murk.  It's blackened sludge meets a more traditional doom take on hooks; perhaps best exemplified with the aptly-named "Pure Cold."  But don't expect the band to be at 11 all of the time.  There are some lengthy, and no less enjoyable, stretches where the music is allowed to speak for itself.  Things can even get downright chill after the roaring waves have died down.  "Backwoods" is a prime example, lighting the fuse early on with some historic cowbell before winding down with a little banjo and ambient noise along with the psychodelic guitar leads.

What I Don't Like: It's a fairly typical sound, overall; but that seems to fit their mission statement quite well.  A little more variation would still be welcome.

The Verdict: Picture some zoned-in deadhead with big headphones on staring into space.  You lift one side for them to hear you... only for copious amounts of water and seawead to pour out onto you feet.  It's kinda like that.  Stream and buy below.

Flight's Fav's: Backwoods, Pure Cold, Taxbear
