The Pitch: "Ottawa three-piece The Dead Centuries are both futuristic and dangerous…which is as it should be. Influenced by Protest The Hero, Periphery, Paul Gilbert, Sithu Aye and Intervals, The Dead Centuries can easily hold their heads up in such exalted company." FFO: Animals As Leaders, Scale The Summit

What I Like: As with all of the bands listed above, The Dead Centuries deliver a multitude of excellent riffs across the course of this album. This band is a total hook machine, and they accomplish this over a dizzying number styles. Progressive, metalcore, melodeath harmonizing, post-metal: Race Against Time has it all. Various moments remind me of everything from early In Flames to Hopesfall.

Critiques: The production could be stronger, especially on the drums. For all of the great performances, the recording feels a bit flat. There are also a few weaker moments that pull down the album quaity as a whole.

The Verdict: The Dead Centuries are a solid instrumental act with plenty of songwriting chops. While they haven't quite reached the level of mainstays like Animals As Leaders, they are on their way and should appeal to the same fanbase. Listen below.

Flight's Fav's: Freddy Lounds, Attack of the Mutant, Souvenir
