The Pitch: Aggressive, French black metallers Black March release their latest dark invocation, Praeludium Exterminii, on vinyl via Throats Productions.  FFO: Corpus Christii, Taake, Murg

What I Like: Black March direct all of their nefarious powers towards one thing only: inflicting as much pain and torment as possible on the listener.  Through an especially unholy union of 2nd wave aesthetic and rock and roll rebellion, this band dominates just as much with D-beat as with blasts.  The guitars similarly alternate between pummeling, punk chord progressions and treachorous blackened tremolos.  Only through the rare piano interludes do we recieve an opportunity to nurse our numerous wounds.

Critiques: The main problem that persists throughout the album's duration pertains to song length.  For the fairly standard song structures, dragging into 5 minutes creates too much repetition in compositions that would be much more impactful at 3 minutes tops.

The Verdict: What Praeludium Exterminii lacks in originality or technical showmanship, it makes up for in sinful charisma and malicious influence.  I recommend the band stick to these strengths in the future by tightening up their compositions for an even more craterous impact.  Grab the album on digital or vinyl below.
