The Pitch: "PhSPHR Entropy is DSKNT's debut offering: a hermetic, polymorphic and abstract black metal nightmare exclusively glorifying and worshiping the annihilation of all existence - a colossal debut album of total avant-black mindfuckery that has taken the aesthetic of bands like Aosoth, Abigor, Deathspell Omega, and Anthaeus and deformed it and disfigured it further - creating a swarming chasm of mutated black chaos worship that pulverizes the psyche and ravages the flesh."

What I Like: Well that's a difficult description to follow. Pretty much everything you need to know is right there; Sentient Ruin aren't just tooting their horn.  DSKNT have an impressively well-rounded sound that functions as a single, enveloping unit. It begins with the vocals, which are powerful and devious blackened snarls made all the more ominous with the added layers of reverb. Meanwhile the guitars and drums are a relentless swarm of locusts. The endless blastbeats drone on noisily in the collective fervur of their beating wings. The hive swirls and surges through the listening space hypnotically, reaching climactic feeding ecstasy in the searing fury of the title track. Truly these riffs have come alive. A mighty chasm has opened, unleashing fire and insects.  Demonic voices beckon from below.

Critiques: No major points for variety or originality on this one. But don't let that turn you away. Somehow it never becomes repetetive to the point of boredom. Quite to the contrary, it's engrossing from start to finish.

The Verdict: If you like modern black metal that surrounds you in chaos, DSKNT is the band for you. Fans of the groups listed above as well as others like Portal, Abyssal, and Adversarial will find themselves right at home. Listen below.
