I caught on to this release by Église simply by lucky chance while browsing the Mathcore Index group on Facebook.  With literally hundreds of demos spilling into my mailbox per week, sometimes its these little surprises that pop up to make the most impact.  That is to say, we may have a new rising star out of Denmark.  If you yearn for more dark, extreme mathcore of the likes of Converge and Botch, your search is over.

Noisy, abrasive, and infectious.  These are the words that describe this self-titled debut.  We Are Romans meets You Fail MeÉglise is the sound your mind makes when pushed to the edge, a swan dive into a cathartic, blissful abyss.  There's something so icy about the guitar tone and production.  I picture a group of hardcore kids, shirtless in the snow engaging in some sort of metalhead/punk fight club.  Everyone grins through broken teeth while drooling blood.

This aesthetic along with the color scheme of the gorgeous cover art reminded me a bit of Poison the Well's Versions, but the music here is far more extreme.  Discordant, screeching waves of technical groove wash over you while the equally math-driven drums calculate infinity in binary.  Huh...is that what that album title was refering to?  Regardless, this is complimented by the sounds of absolutely tortured, venomous wails.  Hardcore delivery fed through a woodchipper.  Such violence.

I'm finding myself at a loss for further words.  This album kicked me right in the nuts and never took its foot away.  The ideas aren't new, but this is the blueprint executed with perfect precision.  A mathmatical milestone in keeping it real.  The album is streaming and available for purchase below, and just know that it is worth more than the $0 you can choose to pay for it.  Please pay credit where it is due.  After all, these guys clearly worked many hours honing this monster.
