The Pitch: San Francisco sludge trio presses their crushing debut to vinyl via Crown & Throne Ltd and Dry Cough Records.

What I Like:  I like to use the word "harrowing" a lot, but only in the most suited contexts.  This is one of those contexts.  The fervent, high-pitched screams seem to cry directly from our shared sense that something just isn't quite right with the world right now.  We put on a smile, go about our day, demonize one another to displace the discomfort; but at the end of the day I think we all have this same voice screaming from within.  The guitars carry the mood with a mixture of doomy Sabbath throwbacks, mammoth sustains, and also some eually rumbly but more rapid moments as with the beginning of "Erased."

What I Don't Like: The pacing could use some finesse, and I could definitely use a little more variety.  I find myself checking in and out throughout this album.

The Verdict: Keep this bull out of your China shop.  Heaviness is no struggle for this trio, but they could explore some new ground to make their material more intriguing.
