The Pitch: Sweden-based, Latin American death thrash trio channels Slayer and other old school influences on their latest tape release.

What I Like: The racing riffs channel elements of both Kerry King and Anders Björler; with a similar melding of American and German thrash groups with Swedish death metal in the vocals.  Speed is the name of the game, unsurprisingly, and both the hooks and solos are excellent.  It's a pretty tight package.

What I Don't Like:  Given such classic infulences, it is important for the songs to really make an impact in order for them to be relevant.  I think Maligner hits this benchmark about 50% of the time.

The Verdict: Demon is a thrilling, albeit short, outing from one of the stronger bands I have heard in this style in a long time.  Given the large shoes they have to fill, I hope they able to follow thus up with something that pulls out all the stops.

Flight's Fav's: "The Die Is Cast," "Immortalized"
