The Pitch: We take a detour into the past to explore the 2014 album from Polish black metal band, Serpent Seed.

What I Like: The band has a very consistent sound and solid production when it comes to allowing each instrument to come through while still leaving a gritty edge.  The vocals are grim and carry the presence so important to this genre.  While the tremolos and melodies are pretty typical, they are performed well and maintain a certain vitality that keeps me listening.  Hey, there's even some decent soloing here.

What I Don't Like: While Serpent Seed are gifted at playing black metal, they don't do a whole lot to say "hey, this is why you should listen to us instead of someone else."  Take the next step.

The Verdict: Name Your Price for another solid bit of black metal depravity.  I'd like to hear this band take more strides towards differentiating their sound, but their already firm presentation gives me plenty of hope for their success in the future.

Flight's Fav's: "Demon's Blade," "Mother Night"
