I was never a big Diablo player, but from what I can surmise, Arreat Summit is the peak of Mount Arreat where the player must face the ancients. Formed in 2012 these Swedes make only the darkest and heaviest of progressive death metal. The band prides themselves in "maintaining the classic approach of riffs, guitar solos, extreme drumming and no clean vocals...with inspiration from the world wide known Gothenburg sound." Their 4th release, Frostburn may only be two tracks, but they are flawlessly written samples of what is to come.

Riff, f@#king city. Both songs are fit to bursting with hooks. They come fast, hard, and gripping; just the way I like 'em. Think Warforged without the softer parts mixed with early Born of Osiris and Black Dahlia Murder. Time signatures go through a few changes, barely keeping up with the never-ending stream of guitar leads. The melodies are thick and ominous, thanks in part to a very balanced production that is clean, but not overly so.

Since this is just a brief EP, I am going to leave it at that and just highly encourage you to press play. These songs are like crack. I keep needing more of them, so it's definitely quality over quantity. If you liked Azgard and Warforged this year, you will definitely dig this. Check it out below, and you can also hear the rest of their catalog from their bandcamp page.
