The Pitch: Massive two-disc release from death metal veterans Avulsed; featuring 16 vocalists(!) across 18 new tracks and a collection of 18 others spanning the last 25 years.

What I Like: I usually don't go in for collections and big collaborations.  They often come off as a muddled mess or a cash grab.  That is definitely not the case with Deathgeneration.  These tracks are insanely fun, balls-to-the-wall death metal that manage to cover all of the key subgenres while still maintaining a consistent flow.  It feels like the guys just got together and said "Let's just celebrate the sh!t out of the genre."  Appearances from the likes of Sven (Aborted), Tomas Lindgren (At The Gates), and John McEntee (Incantation) to name just a few lend a broad stamp of approval.

What I Don't Like: As is generally the case, some tracks are stronger than others.  However, I am willing to bet that your particular tastes for blackened, brutal, old school, etc. are going to highly influence which ones you consider the best and the worst.  It's pretty subjective.

The Verdict: A true dedication to a genre that has given so much over the years.

Flight's Fav's: "Dead Flesh Awakened," "Daddy Stew," "Nullo (The Pleasure of Self-Mutilation)"
