The Pitch: Metal Blade Records releases the live recording of Between the Buried and Me's mesmerizing Coma Ecliptic on CD and Blu-ray.

Summary: I don't go in for a lot of live albums, but I assure you that this one is worth it.  First of all, a good live recording should actually sound like you're there.  I've heard plenty of recent ones that sounded just awful; like you're hearing them play from the next room through muffled walls.  Not so with this one.  Coma Ecliptic: Live has the same impressive recording quality that I loved about classics like NIN's Live: And All That Could Have Been.  Press play on this thing, and you're right there at The Observatory North Park in San Diego.  As for the performance, it's pretty damn flawless.  BTBAM play this set with every bit of skill and vigor as they do on the studio version.  I am constantly in awe of how far these guys have come, and this further solidifies them as a band who has only matured each year like a fine wine.

The Verdict: If you're a fan of the band or just want the live performance experience without leaving the house, this is about as close as you can get.  I've never had the pleasure of seeing these guys live.  It's high on my list, but until then I feel like Coma Ecliptic: Live has brought me a little bit closer.  Buy it Friday.
