The Pitch: Portugal's chaotic, atmospheric black metal group Tod Huetet Uebel follows up 2015's surprise hit Malícia with a 20 minute EP through Caverna Abismal Rec.  FFO Misþyrming, Deathspell Omega, Deluge

What I Like: What struck me about this band from the beginning is just how dense and violent they sound.  Seriously, you'll be hard-pressed to find a BM band that creates such a sense of claustrophobia.  It feels like the band has harnessed the ability to squeeze sound out like some sort of sealant; filling every possible crevice that might allow even a single molecule of oxygen to get in.  I'm suffocating within these compositions on every possible level and experience real life discomfort listening to it.  From the purposefully messy, seemingly improvised shrieks and howls to the anarchy of raucious tremolo and blastbeats, there is little time to rest aside from the doomy brief reprieves on "Da," featuring more screams from Sofia Loureiro of Vaee Solis.

What I Don't Like: Not much has changed with these two songs, and in the case of just how dense and violent Tod Huetet Uebel are sonically, I would have welcomed more dynamics.  This often feels like bonus material that didn't make it onto the debut.  The organ was a nice touch.  More surprises like that and better implementation, please.

The Verdict: I am still a big fan of this group and enjoy the material of N.A.D.A. enough to recommend it to you to listen and purchase, but in the future I'd like to see this promising group diversify a bit more and see how they can stretch their sound into new and interesting directions without losing the chaos.
