The Pitch:  Dutch melodic black metal for fans of Dimmu Borgir.

What I Like:  As much flack as Dimmu Borgir gets, I don't think anyone pulls off that sound as well as them.  That having been said, Misanthropia make a good run of it.  The vocals have power, and the drums...they sound amazing.  Try not to kick along with the beginning of "230 Park Avenue."  Epic guitars and some scattered symphonic additions round this one out to be a solid experience.

What I Don't Like:  They don't really do anything to set their sound apart from their obvious peers, except for the very Styx sounding key solo on "The Executioner".  Also not digging that cover.  I appreciate that they are trying to do something different, but I'm not sure how it fits the music.

The Verdict: Misanthropia are heavily entrenched in their influences, but the all-around strong performances on Omerta turn what could be a discount knockoff into a true contender.

Flight's Fav's:  Omerta, Il pasto sanguinario, The Executioner
