The Pitch: "After several shows and tours together Germany's post black metal powerhouse King Apathy and blackened crust titans Ancst join forces for a ferocious Split release on Alerta Antifascista and Supreme Chaos." FFO: Martyrdod, Anopheli, Nuisible

What I Like: Short release, short review; but don't let the length turn you off to this stellar little split.  I think that the concentrated dose of these two bands together ends up working really well.  I have been a fan of Ancst for some time, but my primary complaint is feeling that their albums drag and become repetetive after the first few tracks.  Here I can truly appreciate their blunt, abrasive delivery in a way that leaves me wanting more; and furthermore their harsh crust is offset perfectly by the more melodic elements of King Apathy.  And hearing the former cover the latter is a delightful twist on the closing track.

Critiques: I'm not really hearing anything I haven't heard before, but I think that both of these bands have the foundational elements to step up from the shadows.

The Verdict: A brief but enjoyable release that manages to showcase the best qualities of two very complimentary bands.  If you like what you hear, be sure to visit both of their Bandcamp pages for further material.

Flight's Fav's: King Apathy (Thränenkind cover), Entropie (cover)
